The National Green Tribunal (NGT) has ordered the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) and the Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) to address allegations regarding an illegal dhalao, or waste collection point, in the capital.
The tribunal was alerted by a petition from a resident welfare group, asserting that the unauthorized structure had been constructed in a green area of a park located in Hari Nagar, southwest Delhi.
On December 23, a bench presided over by NGT Chairperson Justice Prakash Shrivastava demanded verification of these claims, emphasizing the need for immediate corrective action due to the health risks posed after solid waste spilled over nearby roads. The MCD has been mandated to file a report within three months.
