Russia detained an Uzbek man who confessed to assassinating Russian General Igor Kirillov in Moscow, allegedly on Ukraine's orders. Kirillov was killed by a bomb in an electric scooter, with Ukraine's SBU taking responsibility. Russia plans to raise the issue at the U.N. Security Council.
On Wednesday, Russia announced the detention of an Uzbek man who admitted to carrying out an assassination of a top military official, General Igor Kirillov, in Moscow. The suspect claimed his actions were directed by Ukraine's SBU intelligence service.
General Kirillov, the head of Russia's Nuclear, Biological and Chemical Protection Troops, was killed alongside his assistant by a bomb hidden in an electric scooter outside his home. The assassination marked the first of such a senior military figure in Russia, escalating the ongoing tension between Moscow and Kyiv.
Russia's Investigative Committee reported that the suspect revealed he arrived in Moscow specifically for this mission.
