The Communist Party of India (Marxist) announced a protest march to the Central Bureau of Investigation's office in Kolkata, scheduled for November 21, to demand a timely conclusion to the investigation into a doctor's rape-murder case.
This march marks the 100th day since the Calcutta High Court assigned the case to the central agency. West Bengal CPI(M) state secretary, Mohammad Salim, emphasized the need for swift justice for the victim, whose tragic death has sparked widespread outrage and resolute protests by junior doctors statewide.
In addition to highlighting delays in the investigation, the CPI(M) is also addressing the alleged climate of intimidation within West Bengal's educational institutions, showing solidarity with junior doctors and supporting broader demands for women's safety in the region.
