Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel highlighted the continual neglect faced by tribal communities in India post-independence, asserting that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's initiatives have since addressed these issues. Speaking during an event in Ahwa, Patel hailed Modi's efforts in pioneering welfare schemes for tribals.
Marking Janjatiya Gaurav Divas, an occasion celebrated on November 15 to honor tribal contributions to India's freedom struggle, Patel paid tribute to Bhagwan Birsa Munda, a notable tribal leader. The chief minister emphasized that tribals were historically deprived, and commended Modi's 'politics of development' for fostering advancements benefiting all citizens.
Highlighting several key projects, Patel announced substantial infrastructure developments in Dang district, including extensive road resurfacing. He outlined the expansion of the Vanbandhu Kalyan Yojna, a scheme initially launched by Modi in 2007, underlining its significant impact on tribal development by establishing vital schools, colleges, and hospitals in tribal-dominated regions.
