Police registered a rape case against six people, including the former BJP Minority Morcha city chief, Anees Ansari, officials reported on Friday.
The FIR, lodged at the Baradari police station, was based on a complaint by a 32-year-old woman who also reached out to the chief minister through a social media post. This development follows Ansari's resignation from his post on November 8 after several audio clips allegedly featuring obscene conversations between him and a woman surfaced on social media. Ansari had stepped down by submitting his resignation to the BJP city unit chief, Adhir Saxena.
Senior Superintendent of Police Anurag Arya stated on Friday that the FIR lists Anees Ansari, his son Shahnawaz, Javed alias Bablu, Javed Media, Faizal, and one unidentified person as accused. Baradari police station SHO Amit Pandey confirmed the filing of the FIR following the woman's accusation.
SHO Amit Pandey detailed that on October 13, Ansari had previously filed a police complaint, accusing the woman of attempting extortion through a honeytrap. The woman now alleges that Ansari's associates threatened and assaulted her, adding several accusations against him, including rape.
