The Supreme Court has been approached through a public interest litigation by lawyer Brajesh Singh, focusing on the alarming state of bridges in Bihar. Singh's petition urges the court to consider the dire safety concerns following recent multiple bridge collapses in the state.
Singh, emphasizing the urgency of the issue, filed an interim application to include news reports documenting the dilapidated conditions. Despite the Supreme Court's directives in July, the Bihar government and National Highway Authorities of India have yet to respond.
As concerns amplify, the PIL advocates for the formation of an expert panel and a comprehensive structural audit to ensure the stability and safety of these critical infrastructures, especially in flood-prone Bihar.
