An investigation by a leading daily has unveiled that a fifth of vacancies in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly and Council were occupied by VIP relatives, igniting accusations of dynastic politics against the BJP.
The controversial recruitment process, reportedly involving connections to politicians and bureaucrats, has drawn significant criticism from opposition parties. Allegations suggest that nearly 38 out of 186 selected candidates for civil services posts had influential ties.
The Allahabad High Court has called for a CBI probe, understanding the seriousness of the allegations. However, the Supreme Court has recently put a stay on this order, and a further hearing is awaited in January 2024.
