Hezbollah Reconsiders Border Stance Amid Ongoing Tensions
A senior Lebanese official indicated Hezbollah's willingness to withdraw from the Lebanese-Israeli border amidst escalating tensions and ongoing conflict. Despite Israel's continued offensives, Lebanon remains committed to U.N. Resolution 1701. Prospects of a ceasefire remain as negotiations continue, though differences on its implementation persist.
In a significant development, a senior Lebanese official has revealed Hezbollah's preparedness to retreat from positions close to the Lebanese-Israeli border, contingent on a ceasefire agreement. However, the official dismissed Israel's requirement to maintain future military operations against the Iran-backed group.
As the conflict intensifies, Israel has executed airstrikes on Hezbollah strongholds within Beirut's southern suburbs for a third successive day. Aimed at weakening the group, these attacks have resulted in extensive destruction. Speaking to Al Jazeera, Ali Hassan Khalil emphasized Lebanon's readiness to enforce U.N. Security Council Resolution 1701, ending a prior conflict.
Despite considerable setbacks, including the elimination of top Hezbollah figures, the group persists with rocket attacks and ground conflicts. The United States is optimistic about a truce following recent negotiations. Lebanon stands firm against Israeli military liberty within its borders, welcoming international oversight for ceasefire adherence.
