Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Wednesday underscored the Uttarakhand government's earnest intent to introduce a stringent land law that curtails the volume of land acquisitions in the state.
This declaration emerged from a meeting in Gairsain with officials forming the committee tasked to draft this law. Previously in Dehradun, Dhami had announced efforts to establish tight land purchase limits.
Strict penalties will be levied on those creating land banks or misusing land bought for other purposes. The law is under improvisation through consultations involving senior bureaucrats like Chief Secretary Radha Raturi, former officials, and the local populace, amid growing demographic shifts in Uttarakhand's hill regions.
