The Madhya Pradesh High Court has directed that a contempt of court notice be issued to the Indore police commissioner. This action comes after the commissioner failed to submit a report on an incident involving the alleged strip-search of minor girl students by a teacher.
According to reports, the event occurred when a mobile phone disrupted a class at a government-run girls' secondary school. In response, the teacher purportedly took at least five students to the restroom for a strip search in an effort to find the device. Upon learning of the incident, concerned parents filed a complaint with the Malharganj police station.
The court, acting on a Public Interest Litigation filed by activist Chinmay Mishra, had earlier requested the police commissioner to evaluate the applicability of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act. Despite the court's request, no report was submitted, prompting the court to issue a show-cause notice to the police commissioner and demand his presence at the next hearing set for November 25.
