Jammu and Kashmir has experienced a notable decrease in terrorism incidents, with reports showing a reduction of over 70% since 2019 under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. A presentation by the Union Home Ministry to a parliamentary panel highlighted these findings.
Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan informed the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Home Affairs about the data, emphasizing that, despite the decline, threats from groups such as Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammad persist. The presentation also underscored the significance of the abrogation of Article 370, which restructured the region into Union territories in August 2019.
The Modi government is prioritizing civilian safety, focusing efforts on eliminating terrorist support and financing networks in Jammu and Kashmir. As part of its Vision @ 2047, the government aims for a prosperous India through robust internal security and secure borders.
