Appeals Court Upholds Kirchner's Guilty Verdict
Argentina's federal appeals court has upheld the guilty verdict of former President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner. The court confirmed her six-year prison sentence for defrauding the state. Kirchner served as president from 2007 to 2015 and vice president from 2019 to 2023. The case may still reach the Supreme Court.
An Argentine federal appeals court has maintained the guilty verdict against former President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner.
Kirchner, who was president from 2007 to 2015 and then vice president from 2019 to 2023, received a six-year sentence for defrauding the state in December 2022.
The case is still eligible for appeal to the nation's Supreme Court.
