Tensions Rise in Red Sea as U.S. Warships Intercept Houthi Launches
U.S. warships in the Bab al-Mandab Strait intercepted drones and missiles launched by Yemen's Houthi movement, as tensions escalated following military operations in the Red and Arabian seas. The Pentagon confirmed no damage to the vessels, while Houthi factions claimed their actions were in solidarity with Palestinians.
The Pentagon announced that U.S. warships successfully intercepted drones and missiles launched by Yemen's Houthi movement while transiting the Bab al-Mandab Strait on Tuesday.
Earlier, Houthi forces claimed responsibility for two military operations targeting U.S. naval vessels in the region, stretching for eight hours across the Red and Arabian Seas, involving drones and missile firings. Fortunately, there was no damage to the U.S. vessels.
The incidents highlight increasing tensions as the Iran-aligned Houthis intensify attacks on international shipping lanes near Yemen, purportedly in response to Israeli-linked vessels amid ongoing conflict in Gaza.
