In a bold attempt at escalation, Yemen's Houthi rebels targeted two US Navy warships with drones and missiles while they navigated the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, the Defense Department confirmed on Tuesday.
According to Maj. Gen. Pat Ryder, Pentagon press secretary, the Iranian-backed rebels launched a barrage of eight drones, multiple anti-ship ballistic missiles, and cruise missiles at the USS Stockdale and USS Spruance on Monday.
Despite the intensity of the attacks, no damage or injuries were reported, highlighting the robust defense capabilities of the US forces in the region and underscoring the ongoing maritime tension fueled by the Israel-Hamas conflict and regional unrest.
