The RG Kar case has taken a new turn as West Bengal Governor C V Ananda Bose seeks an immediate explanation from Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee concerning serious allegations made by the case's prime accused, Sanjay Roy. Roy claims he has been framed in the rape-murder case involving a doctor, implicating former Kolkata Police Commissioner Vineet Goel and other senior officials.
On Tuesday, sources from the Raj Bhavan confirmed the governor's demand for a detailed report, emphasizing the urgency of the matter. Bose has requested the state government look into the accusations and provide clarity on its stance and the factual standing of the case without delay.
Roy, who was produced in court on Monday, maintained his innocence, alleging a conspiracy by senior police officers. His arrest in August, following the discovery of the victim's body in RG Kar hospital, led to public outrage. The CBI has since taken over the investigation as ordered by the Calcutta High Court.
