Mamata Banerjee to Reconstitute GTA Development Boards to Boost Darjeeling
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee announced the reconstitution of 16 development boards under the Gorkhaland Territorial Administration (GTA). Meeting with GTA Chief Executive, Anit Thapa, plans include setting up skill development centres to enhance local employment opportunities in the Darjeeling Hills.

West Bengal's Chief Minister, Mamata Banerjee, disclosed plans to reconstitute the 16 development boards under the Gorkhaland Territorial Administration (GTA) in a move aimed at enhancing the development of the Darjeeling Hills.
The announcement came after a pivotal meeting with GTA Chief Executive Anit Thapa and various board chairpersons, where Banerjee revealed that the boards would be reconstituted after consultations within one and a half months.
She also highlighted the establishment of four skill development centres designed to train students in the region for local job opportunities, as part of the government's strategy to boost employment among the educated youth of the Hills.
