Charles Alexander abducted his 7-year-old daughter in Ohio, leading to an Amber Alert and a police chase. Hours later, Alexander was killed by officers in a shooting at a fast-food parking lot. The child was found unharmed and returned to family. Details on the shooting remain unclear.
Authorities reported that a 43-year-old Ohio man, Charles Alexander, was killed by officers after abducting his 7-year-old daughter from a relative's home. The non-custodial father took the child after a dispute, triggering an Amber Alert.
A police chase ensued when officers attempted to stop Alexander in Brunswick, Ohio, hours after the abduction. His vehicle was disabled using tire deflation measures on Interstate 71, and he diverted to a fast-food parking lot on Route 18.
It was there that Alexander was shot and killed by police. The Medina County Sheriff's Office did not specify if Alexander was armed or what led officers to fire. His daughter was later found safe in Medina and reunited with her family.
