India has achieved a prominent position in the global intellectual property arena, securing top-10 rankings in patents, trademarks, and industrial designs, according to the commerce and industry ministry on Tuesday.

The nation impressively clinched the fourth spot in global trademark filings, experiencing a 6.1 percent rise in 2023. Almost 90 percent of these filings were by residents, with significant contributions from sectors such as health, agriculture, and clothing. India's trademark office is now second-largest worldwide in terms of active registrations, boasting over 3.2 million trademarks, illustrating the nation's strong standing in global brand protection.

The World Intellectual Property Organization's 2024 indicators underscore India's increasing innovation and intellectual property advancements, adding further credence to the country's remarkable progress in this sector.
