At COP29's World Leaders Climate Action Summit, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres urged leaders to dismantle barriers to climate finance, stressing that developing countries must not exit Baku without support.
Guterres highlighted the disproportionate climate change impacts on poorer nations and the pressing need for a comprehensive finance deal, especially with 2024 poised to be the hottest year recorded.
He called for tangible commitments, including a five-point finance plan, technological aid, and increased adaptation funding, to avoid COP29 ending ineffectively for developing regions.
