German National Sentenced for Visa Fraud in India
A German national, Holger Erik Misch, has been sentenced by an Indian court to 14 months in prison for fraud. Misch altered the expiry date of his visa. Discovered by local authorities, he was charged under Indian Penal Code sections and the Foreigners Act.

A local court handed a German national a 14-month prison sentence on Monday after convicting him of fraudulently altering his expired visa. A fine of Rs 500 was also imposed.
Chief Judicial Magistrate Alok Yadav delivered the verdict against the accused, Holger Erik Misch from Berlin, following the testimony of Senior Prosecution Officer Satish Verma.
The investigation began in 2017 after Local Intelligence Unit officials discovered the fraudulent alteration. Misch was charged under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and Foreigners Act. If the fine remains unpaid, an additional seven-day imprisonment will follow the main sentence.
