Tension gripped a village in Telangana's Vikarabad district on Monday, as villagers protested against the acquisition of their lands for a proposed 'pharma village'. The confrontation took a violent turn when some locals allegedly attacked the vehicles of district authorities.
The confrontation unfolded in Lagacharla village during a public consultation on the proposed pharmaceutical project, as television footage showed villagers raising slogans and engaging in heated exchanges with District Collector Prateek Jain and other officials.
Despite being surrounded by protesters, the Collector managed to reach safety, but the crowd followed, throwing stones at the officials' vehicles and shattering windows. The project plans to establish pharmaceutical units in the area, sparking widespread local concern over land rights.
