Authorities in Berinag have lifted prohibitory orders following a protest by a right-wing group concerning a house reportedly being used as a mosque, an official confirmed on Monday.
The protest, orchestrated by the Rastriya Sewa Sangh and led by Himanshu Joshi, resulted in a temporary deployment of additional forces to ensure order. However, these measures were retracted on Sunday.
The administration has served a notice to Abdul Najim, the house owner, demanding clarification on whether he authorized the property's use as a mosque. Tensions rose last month with similar demonstrations in Uttarkashi, some leading to clashes with the police.
