A human skeleton was unearthed from an abandoned stone quarry in Tiakata village of Balasore district, Odisha, officials reported on Monday. The discovery was made by local residents using the forest for goat grazing.

Police swiftly responded, sending a team to the remote location on Berhampur's hilltop in the Nilagiri subdivision. The skeleton awaits forensic medicine and toxicology (FMT) testing, according to Saroj Kumar Upadhya, the sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) of Nilgiri.

While the origin of the skeleton remains uncertain, authorities speculate possible scenarios including murder, suicide, or an accidental fall due to the hazardous terrain.
