Justice Sanjiv Khanna commenced his role as the 51st Chief Justice of India on Monday, following a swearing-in ceremony officiated by President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
Taking the podium shortly after noon in courtroom one, Justice Khanna received warm wishes from his legal counterparts, including senior advocate Mukul Rohatgi, who wished him a successful tenure.
Justice Khanna, addressing concerns over the sequencing of cases for hearing, assured that he would consider the issue, marking the beginning of his six-month term as CJI, succeeding Justice D Y Chandrachud.
