Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has countered claims regarding constitutional changes under the BJP, labeling them as 'false propaganda.' In a speech at a tribal convention in Farmagudi, North Goa, Sawant criticized comparisons with historical breaches of the Constitution.
He recalled the Emergency period, mentioning former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi's alleged disrespect towards constitutional norms during 1971-72. He assured attendees that the BJP government has no intention of altering the framework established by Babasaheb Ambedkar.
Sawant also addressed the recent approval of political reservations in Goa, responding to critics by stating that the initiative is genuine and that a resolution will be pursued in Parliament to implement these measures by 2027.
