A parliamentary committee spearheaded by BJP MP Nishikant Dubey has invited media organizations, including the News Broadcasters and Digital Association and the Editors Guild of India, for discussions on measures to combat 'fake news'.

The Standing Committee on Communications and Information Technology is set to convene on November 21 to deliberate on the subject of curbing misinformation. Media representatives will present their viewpoints at this meeting.

In addition to addressing misinformation, the committee aims to examine the impact of OTT platforms, the rise of cryptocurrency, the influence of Artificial Intelligence, and the challenges posed by digital and cybercrime. Additionally, they will assess the related ministries and public broadcaster Prasar Bharati's functionality.
