The ruling CPI(M) in Kerala has firmly stated its stance against the eviction of families from Munambam, a coastal area embroiled in disputes over the Waqf Board's claims to property. The ongoing issue sees protests as residents voice their grievances about alleged unlawful claims.
CPI(M)'s state secretary, M V Govindan, emphasized the party's commitment to protect landholders amid these tensions, promising continued support for farmers and marginalized communities in modern Kerala. The Left government plans to tackle legal technicalities before taking decisive action, ensuring no residents face eviction.
Amidst this political clash, the BJP stands accused of attempting to incite communal divisions. The state assembly's resolution against the BJP-led Centre's Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2024, has further fueled the controversy, with Christian communities expressing discontent over perceived neglect by both the LDF and UDF in addressing their issues.
