In a substantial boost to sustainability efforts, the Indian government has generated a significant revenue of Rs 2,364 crore from scrap disposal through special campaigns conducted between 2021 and 2024.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi hailed this achievement, underscoring how collective and efficient actions can produce sustainable and economically prudent outcomes. The latest phase of this initiative, known as special campaign 4.0, alone brought in over Rs 650 crore and freed up 190 lakh square feet of office space.
These drives have been part of the broader cleanliness campaign that saw swachhata activities carried out at over 5.97 lakh sites, marking substantial progress in both resource management and public hygiene practices.
