China has extended substantial financial aid to Sri Lanka, amounting to Rs 30 million, to mitigate the impact of natural disasters that have plagued the nation from January to October. A statement from the President's Media Division confirmed this on Saturday.
Additionally, a separate contribution of 10 million Yuan worth of material assistance is anticipated from China under the Emergency Humanitarian Assistance Programme, demonstrating China's commitment to aiding disaster-stricken nations.
Sri Lanka experienced severe flooding this year, resulting in loss of life and displacement of thousands. The Sri Lankan Treasury and the Ministry of Defence are actively utilizing the funds to reconstruct affected areas rapidly, ensuring swift support and rebuilding efforts under the Disaster Relief and Monitoring Project.
