EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell visited Kyiv on Saturday to reaffirm Europe's steadfast support for Ukraine amidst recent political changes in the United States.

Borrell highlighted the EU's contributions of 122 billion euros ($131 billion) in aid to Ukraine and announced plans to increase the training of Ukrainian soldiers to 75,000 by winter's end. He stressed the need for expedited aid delivery and urged fewer restrictions on military actions.

The visit follows Donald Trump's election, which has raised questions about future US support. Despite Trump's criticisms, Ukraine expressed hope for continued US engagement in achieving peace. Borrell assured Ukraine of enduring EU backing as Russian forces advance in the Donetsk region.
