Karnataka BJP MLA Basanagouda Patil Yatnal has taken a strong stance against the current operations of the Waqf Boards, urging Prime Minister Narendra Modi to consider nationalizing Waqf properties across the nation.
In his letter, Yatnal highlighted the issues stemming from the Waqf Act, describing the current scenario as a 'Tyranny of Waqf Board'. He alleges that these boards have unchecked authority over numerous properties, including lands belonging to farmers, mutts, and temples, resulting in significant distress to many rightful owners.
Yatnal calls for nationalization as a means to establish transparency and protect property rights, ensuring that no institution wields unchecked power contrary to the constitutional right of equality.
