P P Divya, a prominent CPI(M) leader, found herself at the center of a storm as she was taken into police custody for six hours on Friday. The Kerala court granted this order for her role in the suicide case of Additional District Magistrate Naveen Babu. The incident has ignited political tensions and public protests.

The Judicial First Class Magistrate court allowed police questioning until 5 PM, despite their request for two days of custody. Her arrest follows accusations of abetting Babu's suicide. The controversy has further intensified with the Congress party leading protest marches, demanding accountability from District Collector Arun K Vijayan.

The protests, led by KPCC chief K Sudhakaran, underscored accusations against the Collector, asserting that he collaborated with Divya. Amidst allegations of corruption and cover-up, the situation remains tense, with clashes reported between protestors and police. Divya's bail application remains pending, anticipated for review this Tuesday.
