Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu introduced the 'Deepam - 2' initiative on Friday, aimed at offering free cooking gas cylinders to eligible citizens. The scheme was launched in Eedupuram village, located in the Srikakulam district.
The event was attended by prominent figures including Civil Supplies Minister N Manohar and Union Aviation Minister K Ram Mohan Naidu. The launch took place at a woman's residence, highlighting the project's focus on uplifting domestic conditions.
'Deepam - 2' is designed to distribute three free cylinders annually per beneficiary, fulfilling one of Naidu's prominent promises ahead of the 2024 elections. The scheme is projected to cost the state Rs 2,684 crore, underscoring its significance as a voter-centric initiative.
