In a shocking incident in central Mumbai, a 20-year-old man was tragically stabbed to death following a confrontation between two groups over the bursting of firecrackers. The clash led to the arrest of five individuals, including a woman, authorities confirmed on Friday.
The deceased, identified as Vivek Gupta, was caught in the brawl at Antop Hill, sparked when a group of locals set off crackers in the narrow lanes of Jai Maharashtra Nagar, Kokri Agar, after midnight. As tensions escalated, one accused, Kartik R Mohan Devendra, was initially assaulted but returned later, escalating the conflict further.
During the melee, another participant picked up a dropped knife and repeatedly stabbed Gupta. Despite immediate medical attention, Gupta succumbed to his injuries. The police have launched a hunt for the remaining accused, using CCTV footage and technical analysis to aid their ongoing investigation.
