The Delhi Fire Services (DFS) faced an unprecedented surge in fire-related emergencies during this year's Diwali, logging over 300 incidents citywide. Officials cited the persistent use of firecrackers as a key factor behind the highest number of Diwali-related calls in 13 years, overriding the existing ban.

Enhanced preparation efforts by the DFS included full deployment of personnel and fire engines, reflecting in their handling of the majority of calls between 5 PM on October 31 and 5 AM on November 1. Despite an enforced firecracker ban by the Delhi government to combat pollution, widespread non-compliance was observed, including by citizens and market sectors.

In a related note, police reported receiving calls about three fatalities, including two suicides. Officials emphasized proactive measures including 377 enforcement teams collaborating with community groups, while stressing potential legal consequences for violators.
