The Indian Army resumed patrolling at Demchok on Friday, shortly after completing troop disengagement at two critical friction points with China in eastern Ladakh, as confirmed by Army sources.
Patrolling at Depsang is anticipated to recommence soon, following the resumed activities at Demchok. In a positive gesture, Indian and Chinese troops exchanged sweets along the Line of Actual Control during Diwali, signaling a thaw in bilateral tensions.
Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri highlighted an agreement reached between the two nations to resolve issues that emerged in 2020, marking the first significant step towards easing tensions since the Galwan Valley clash. Talks are set to continue at the local command level.
