Israel Downs Drone Smuggling Weapons from Egypt
Israel's military reported shooting down a drone attempting to smuggle weapons from Egypt into Israel. Officials claim Hamas utilizes tunnels under the Egypt-Israel border for arms smuggling, though Egypt insists these tunnels were destroyed years ago, having fortified the border to prevent such activities.
On Thursday, Israeli military forces announced the interception of a drone over the region, which was engaged in smuggling arms from Egyptian soil into Israeli territory on Wednesday.
Amid ongoing conflict, Israeli officials have accused the Palestinian armed organization, Hamas, of employing tunnels beneath the boundary lines spanning into Egypt's Sinai area for arms smuggling purposes.
Contrary to these claims, Egyptian authorities maintain that they dismantled these underground networks years prior, along with implementing a buffer zone and fortified border measures to curtail any smuggling activities.
