In a significant statement, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh expressed India's dedication to pursuing peace with China through mutual consensus—an approach resonating with the ethos of former Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee. Addressing the Indian Army personnel at the Gajraj Corps headquarters in Tezpur during a 'Bada Khana' event, Singh praised the army's relentless efforts in facilitating the peace process.
Singh articulated that while India aims for harmonious relations with its neighbors, challenges occasionally necessitate defending its borders. He acknowledged the critical role played by soldiers in upholding peace and hailed the substantial progress made at the Line of Actual Control (LAC) following constructive dialogue with China.
Highlighting the strategic importance of the Northeast, Singh described the region as both naturally beautiful and geographically challenging. Reports confirmed the disengagement of Indian and Chinese troops at Demchok and Depsang Plains in eastern Ladakh, with patrols set to begin soon. Due to foul weather, Singh's scheduled visit to Tawang was postponed to the next day, underscoring the resilience of the 'Bada Khana' spirit shared in Tezpur.
