The United Nations Security Council has issued a steadfast warning to Israel concerning its recent legislation banning operations of the UN Palestinian refugee agency, UNRWA. This comes after the Israeli parliament enacted the law earlier in the week.
Addressing the move, the 15-member Security Council expressed significant apprehension over the implications of such legislation. The council unitedly adopted a statement highlighting this concern.
Additionally, the council called on the Israeli government to honor its international commitments, ensure respect for UNRWA's privileges and immunities, and facilitate the unimpeded delivery of humanitarian aid across the Gaza Strip.
