Tripura is gearing up to address rising cyber threats with a new cyber crime police station, according to state DGP Amitabh Ranjan. This move comes as part of a wider strategy to shift focus from insurgency, which officials declare a closed chapter post the mass surrender of NLFT and ATTF militants.

Ranjan emphasized the state's intention to concentrate on community policing and urban crime management. He highlighted the need for enhanced skills within the Tripura State Rifles (TSR), traditionally tasked with counterinsurgency, suggesting specialist training alongside elite forces such as the NSG and CISF.

Under central modernization schemes, the state police's capabilities are set to improve with new equipment. Meanwhile, six TSR companies will assist Maharashtra and Jharkhand's election duties post-Diwali, despite an original request for 15 companies due to local constraints.
