In a significant ruling, the Gautam Buddha Nagar court has sentenced a man identified as Vikas to 10 years of imprisonment for the 2018 rape of a minor girl. The sentence was delivered by the Additional Sessions Special Judge under the POCSO Act, with an additional fine of Rs 40,000 imposed.
The incident dates back to 2018 when Vikas kidnapped the young girl while she was on her way to school, subjecting her to months of repeated assault during captivity. The case came to light when Badalpur police successfully rescued the girl and apprehended the accused, leading to a filed chargesheet.
Following comprehensive statements from witnesses and doctors, the court decisively convicted Vikas. Notably, he faces an additional seven months in prison if he fails to pay the imposed fine, ensuring that justice is served for his grievous actions.
