The National Internet Exchange of India (NIXI) marked the inauguration of its new office at the World Trade Centre in Nauroji Nagar, New Delhi. In a grand event attended by key figures from the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), including Sh. S Krishnan, Secretary, MeitY and Chairman of NIXI, the ceremony underscored NIXI’s pivotal role in advancing India’s internet infrastructure. Also present were senior officials including Shri Bhuvnesh Kumar, Additional Secretary, MeitY, Shri Sushil Pal, Joint Secretary, MeitY, and Shri Rajesh Singh, Joint Secretary and Financial Adviser, MeitY.
Initiatives to Drive Domain Adoption and Digital Expansion

Launch of NIXI’s CSR Impact Report for 2023-24
The event also witnessed the release of NIXI's CSR Impact Report for FY 23-24, detailing the organization’s initiatives aimed at promoting digital literacy, expanding access to the internet, and fostering community development. The report reflects NIXI’s contributions towards supporting India’s digital economy while enhancing social empowerment. With ambitious future goals outlined, NIXI has set its sights on deepening its impact across more communities in the coming years.
Strengthening Cybersecurity with Strategic Partnership
A significant development at the event was the signing of a strategic agreement with Telecommunications Consultants India Ltd. (TCIL) to implement NIXI’s SSL Certificate Authority (SSL CA). This collaboration is a proactive step toward bolstering cybersecurity across India, ensuring secure online transactions, and fostering user trust. This new SSL certification authority will offer robust encryption and authentication services, vital for secure internet experiences in the public and private sectors alike.
NIXI’s Expansion and Vision for the Future
NIXI’s CEO, Dr. Devesh Tyagi, spoke on the organization’s achievements and forward-looking plans. As of today, NIXI has registered over 4.1 million domains, and the next milestone is reaching 5 million, a target that reflects NIXI’s continued success and growing influence in India’s digital economy. Additionally, Dr. Tyagi highlighted NIXI’s existing 77 internet exchange points spread across the country, which enhance data localization efforts by keeping data within national borders, thus improving data security and internet performance. Plans are in motion to establish more exchange points, with a new scheme underway to support this expansion.
With its new headquarters in the capital and a reinforced agenda for digital progress, NIXI remains at the forefront of India’s internet landscape, committed to providing a robust, secure, and inclusive digital infrastructure that aligns with India’s larger vision for a digitally empowered nation.
