The Manipur government has taken a significant step by allocating over Rs 5 crore to aid internally displaced persons (IDPs) with a financial assistance of Rs 1,000 each. This funding will additionally ensure that basic daily necessities are provided to those in need, as confirmed by an official notification.
Chief Minister N Biren Singh highlighted this initiative on Facebook, emphasizing that the financial assistance will reach the IDPs before the Diwali and ‘Ningol Chakouba’ festivals. This proactive measure aims to bring some relief and support to displaced residents during festive times.
In a related event, the Chief Minister inaugurated the ‘Run for Unity Marathon’ on the occasion of National Unity Day. Organized by the Department of Youth Affairs and Sports, the marathon spanned a distance of approximately 4 km. Singh, in a post on X, called the run a testament to the country's dedication to unity and harmony.
