In a recent session, the Delhi High Court declined to consider a plea that sought directives for enrolling Rohingya refugee children in local schools. The court maintained that such matters are within the central government's purview, specifically citing international and security-related ramifications.
The court advised the petitioner, NGO Social Jurist, to approach the Union Ministry of Home Affairs with their concerns. The NGO had contended that admissions were rejected due to these children's lack of Aadhaar cards, forcing them out of the educational system.
Chief Justice Manmohan and Justice Tushar Rao Gedela presided over the case, suggesting that facilitating school admissions for these refugees could inadvertently integrate them into society, a move they deemed inappropriate for their jurisdiction to decide.
