The Delhi High Court has declined to entertain a petition seeking the enrollment of Rohingya refugee children in local schools, asserting that the matter falls under the purview of the central government.
A bench comprising Chief Justice Manmohan and Justice Tushar Rao Gedela emphasized the issue's international implications, particularly concerning security and nationality, advising the petitioner to approach the Ministry of Home Affairs for a resolution.
Filed by the NGO Social Jurist, the petition highlighted the Delhi government's refusal to admit Rohingya children without Aadhaar cards. Despite concerns over constitutional rights to education, the court sided with the need for a broader government policy decision.
