In a significant ruling on Tuesday, a Kerala court dismissed the anticipatory bail application of CPI(M) leader P P Divya. She faces accusations related to allegedly abetting the suicide of former Kannur Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Naveen Babu.

The ruling came from Principal District and Sessions Judge, Thalassery, K T Nissar Ahammed, who turned down Divya's plea. Divya, who previously served as the president of the Kannur district panchayat, finds herself embroiled in controversy following her remarks about Babu at a recent event.

Divya had allegedly attended an uninvited send-off function for Babu on October 14, where she criticized him for delaying a petrol pump approval in Chengalai, granted only days before he was transferred. The following day, Babu's body was found in his Kannur quarters.
