North Korea's Diplomatic Moves: Choe Son Hui's Moscow Visit
Choe Son Hui, North Korea's foreign minister, is visiting Moscow amid growing concerns about North Korea's involvement in the Russia-Ukraine conflict. This visit, marking her second in six weeks, is part of strategic dialogue following decisions made at a June summit between the two nations. Western nations are increasingly wary of the military ties between Moscow and Pyongyang.
Choe Son Hui, North Korea's foreign minister, has embarked on a significant diplomatic mission by heading to Moscow, as confirmed by state media and Russian officials on Tuesday. This is her second visit to Russia within six weeks, raising concerns over North Korea's participation in the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.
The Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) announced that a delegation, led by Choe, left for an official trip to Russia. Meanwhile, Russia's Ambassador to Pyongyang, Alexander Matsegora, was present at the airport to send her off, the Russian embassy noted on social media.
During a televised cabinet meeting, South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol criticized the 'illegal' military cooperation between Russia and North Korea. NATO added to these concerns by confirming that North Korean troops have been deployed on Russian soil, posing a new threat to international security.
