In a stark revelation, India's High Commissioner to Canada, Sanjay Verma, has criticized Ottawa for its sluggish handling of extradition requests concerning Khalistani terrorists. Of the 26 requests made by India, only five have been resolved, and the remaining cases have stalled for decades.

The diplomatic tension escalated following the killing of Hardeep Singh Nijjar, a Canadian citizen labeled a terrorist by India. This incident has led to calling back of several Indian diplomats, further straining relations over Canada's perceived support for Khalistani extremists.

Verma emphasized India's core concerns with Canadian authorities, urging them to address anti-India elements allegedly thriving within their borders. The historical roots of this issue date back to Sikh immigration waves, notably post-Operation Blue Star, contributing to today's geopolitical complexities.
