In a tragic incident, a UNRWA driver was killed when Israeli forces targeted a UN-marked vehicle in Gaza, as confirmed by the United Nations on Thursday.

Farhan Haq, a UN deputy spokesperson, reported that the vehicle attack also claimed the driver's brother's life and inflicted minor injuries on three passersby.

Israel's UN Ambassador, Danny Danon, alleged that the UNRWA driver was a senior Hamas figure who had roles in the recent October attacks in Israel.

UNRWA revealed that the driver was among those listed by Israel as Hamas affiliates, seeking more details from Israel, but as of Thursday, no feedback has been received.

This attack marks the latest in a series of assaults on UN staff, with over 230 staff casualties reported since the heightened tensions began.
