An international conference held in Paris has successfully raised $1 billion in pledges to support Lebanon, which is grappling with a dire humanitarian crisis and ongoing conflict involving Hezbollah and Israel.
French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot announced that $800 million would be allocated for humanitarian aid while $200 million will bolster the security forces. The gathering saw participation from over 70 nations and international organizations.
As experts raise concerns about transparency and corruption in aid delivery, additional military support is deemed crucial to stabilize the region, with France leading the effort to strengthen Lebanon's sovereignty and institutions.
